Install WordPress in other language

WordPress displays in U.S. English (en_US) by default. But  the software has the built-in capability to be used in any language. The WordPress community has already translated WordPress into many languages, and there are themes, translation files and support available in many other languages. Here are the procedure for different WordPress version to Install WordPress in other language.

WordPress v4.0 and above

1)  Change the language in the admin settings screen. Settings > general > Site Language.

2)   You will see already supported language.  If your desired one is listed choose it and save.

If your desired language is not listed,  please follow the steps

1) Download the .mo language file for your language from http://i18n.svn.wordpress.org/ .   The naming convention of the .mo files ( e.g. bn_BD.mo)  is based on the ISO-639 language code (e.g. bn for Bangla or Bengali) followed by the ISO-3166 country code (e.g. _BD for Bangladesh).  The full path of.mo file  is http://i18n.svn.wordpress.org/bn_BD/trunk/messages/ . Here as an example bn_BD is used to download .mo file for Bangla language.

2) On your site server, create a new folder in your /wp-content directory called /languages.

3) Upload the .mo file to the languages folder you just created

4) Now go to  Settings > general > Site Language you will find your language ( eg. bn_BD) at the top of the list. Select and save settings

WordPress v3.9.2 and below

1) Download the .mo language file for your language following the same procedure as mentioned above

2) On your site server, create a new folder in your /wp-content directory called /languages.

3) Upload the .mo file to the languages folder you just created

4) Open your wp-config.php file in a text editor and search for:

define ('WPLANG', '');

5) Edit this line according to the .mo file you’ve just downloaded, e.g. for the Bangla language you must add :

define ('WPLANG', 'bn_BD');

6) Once you’ve added your language code, save the file.

7) Upload the modified wp-config.php file into the WordPress root directory.

8) Open your browser and go to your WordPress site. It should now display in the newly-installed language.

WordPress  has the built-in capability to be used in any language and install WordPress in other language than English is an five minutes task. After installing WordPress in your language, you can write post/page in your language.
